Thursday they started getting concerned Irene could turn north and it did.
Friday night the stores were packed and the gas stations were lined up. I took 25 minutes to get gas waiting for the 2 cars in front of me and the gas only pumping a gallon a minute ($3.39).
The rain started at 3pm. The winds started at 5. The worst never really made it. Some lost power, a few branches broke off trees, and some got water in the basement.
Fortunately, no widespread destruction as predicted.
God listened to His followers prayers not the news predictions. They talked gloom and doom even after Saturday morning when the storm already hit the Outer Banks with little damage. Hopefully people do not think they cried wolf and do not listen next time.
